The COST Action SMILES has launched its Final Call 2026 for applications to Short-Term Scientific Missions (STSMs) and Virtual Mobility (VM), supporting interdisciplinary collaboration on the mapping, assessment, and sustainability of ecosystem services in small and medium-sized European islands. The call is aimed at postgraduate students, postdoctoral researchers, and professionals affiliated with public or private institutions, with particular encouragement for Young Researchers and Innovators and applicants from Inclusiveness Target Countries.
STSMs support in-person visits to a host institution in another country, while VM enables online collaboration for knowledge exchange, method harmonisation, and research coordination. Applications are accepted on a rolling basis until financing is available, and all activities must be completed by 14 October 2026.
Funding may reach up to EUR 3,000 for STSMs and EUR 500 for VM, with STSM travel costs eligible for up to EUR 500. Successful applicants are expected to deliver a concrete output that contributes to the visibility and dissemination of the Action, and to submit a scientific report after completing the activity. In the case of final applications, the report must be submitted by 15 October.
