Introduction

The overall aim of SMILES COST Action is to create a science-practice-society European network for the consolidation of knowledge on small-medium islands’ natural capital. SMILES Action will thus facilitate island development and ecosystem management by adopting nature based solutions (NbS) following a new framework (i.e. methods, guidelines, tools) for natural capital assessment tailored to small-medium islands across geographical areas within EU.
